Trump Declared NATO Dead Before Breakfast

At 6:16am Eastern on Thursday, Trump posted: "The USA needs nothing from NATO." Then three more followed, demanding Iran get serious, calling on Republicans to terminate the filibuster, and pushing for the full Save America Act.

Barbara laid it out. This isn’t impulsive tweeting. NATO’s refusal to patrol the Strait of Hormuz already exposed the alliance. Now Trump is making it official.

The new alliance: Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states. Turkey is technically a NATO member, but it’s not at the table because of NATO. It’s there as a sovereign nation. NATO as an institution is nowhere to be found.

The entire post-war transatlantic order, the idea that Europe holds a veto over American foreign policy, is ending. What’s replacing it is bilateral deals with sovereign nations who actually want to develop. That’s the National Security Strategy in action.

Iran: The Venezuela Model, Not Regime Change From Outside

You sent us nearly 200 questions this week. A huge chunk were about Iran. Who are we negotiating with? What about the Shah? What happens to the IRGC?

Barbara pointed to Venezuela as the template. The vice president was part of the Maduro camp, and now she’s cooperating, producing oil, and the revenues are going into development for the first time in years.

Trump isn’t looking to wipe out the governing structure and parachute in an exile. He’s looking for people inside the system who will act for the benefit of their country in a world where the British great game no longer calls the shots.

Susan drove the deeper point. The radical Islamist apparatus was never organic to Iran. It was mothered by the Muslim Brotherhood, created by the British, as an asset of imperial policy. Trump is dismantling the external support structure that kept it alive.

Hezbollah is being told to disarm by the Lebanese government. The Muslim Brotherhood is being designated a terrorist organization across multiple countries. The oxygen is being cut off. What emerges internally in Iran will be shaped by that new reality, not by Washington picking a figurehead.

On the Shah: he may be popular in the diaspora, but the intelligence assessment from both the U.S. and Israel is that he couldn’t handle the current situation on the ground. Trump is looking for stability under massive constraints, not a romantic restoration.

It’s the Economy, Stupid. And the Midterms Depend On It.

Leslie in Seattle asked what everyone’s thinking: why are Democrats winning special elections?

Susan and Barbara came back to the same answer. Economics.

In Florida, the Democratic candidate went door to door talking about the affordability crisis. The Republican candidate didn’t counter it. He wasn’t talking economics. He wasn’t on doors.

Susan flagged a stunning number. Manufacturing job openings have increased by over 100,000, from under 400,000 to nearly 500,000, and they can’t be filled. Not because the jobs aren’t there, but because decades of deindustrialization left us without a skilled workforce.

That’s the transformation in a single data point: the opportunities are arriving faster than we can train people to fill them.

The investment is flowing to states that want it. South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma. Blue states with hostile governors are lagging behind. Michigan, where Susan serves as a vice chair of the Republican Party, is a vivid example.

Barbara added the California wildcard. Trump just opened oil drilling off the coast using the Defense Production Act, employing people who’d been out of work for 11 years. And the two leading candidates for governor of California are Republicans. The transformation is coming to the bluest states. But it requires people who will talk about Trump’s economic revolution, not hide from it.

Israel: Forcing the Real Question Into the Open

Karen asked simply: is Israel going rogue?

Susan’s answer was surgical. Trump has always had to account for the risk of a breakaway ally. Israel has nuclear weapons. Organizations like AIPAC wield enormous influence in Washington. But their purpose isn’t to represent Jewish people. It’s to represent the British Imperial Order.

What Trump is doing is creating a world where the difference between Israel’s legitimate national interests and the oligarchical factions using Israel as a destabilizing tool becomes impossible to ignore.

Just as he forced NATO to expose itself by demanding they patrol the Strait, he’s creating conditions where people can see that Netanyahu’s faction and the Israeli people’s interests are not the same thing.

The parallel is direct. Lindsey Graham is now questioning NATO. Something unthinkable six months ago. Trump is building the political space where Americans can question unconditional support for a foreign government’s worst impulses without being called antisemitic.

Cabinet Under Fire. The Psyop Isn’t Working.

KJ asked about loyalty in Trump’s inner circle. Vance, Bondi, others. Barbara and Susan both pushed back hard.

Barbara on Bondi: she flubbed the Epstein release. But the Justice Department is moving. A major grand jury in Florida just subpoenaed James Comey’s documents. Brennan got his months ago. A massive Medicare and Medicaid fraud investigation is underway, and it leads directly to Democratic Party funding. The hospice fraud in California alone should make Gavin Newsom nervous.

Susan’s broader point: after ten years, do you really think Donald Trump doesn’t know who’s loyal? Watch the cabinet meetings, not the soap opera. Every publicized session shows a team working with a synergy she’s never seen before.

The propaganda says otherwise because it’s working off psychological profiles gathered during Jack Smith’s counterintelligence operations, profiling how MAGA would react to specific cabinet controversies. That’s not analysis. That’s a weapon.

On Joe Kent: Barbara reiterated that you don’t resign from the administration and then go on a media tour claiming Israel controls Trump. That raises serious questions, especially when you may be facing an FBI investigation and need a D.C. jury to see you as a dissident, not a leaker.
